Current News

The DCTA is has expanded its focus on junior tennis to include out-of-town high school students.  This area of junior tennis has become a concern to the DCTA because these students do not have a means of transportation to Greenville to take advantage of the numerious tennis programs.  So the DCTA is working on a plan to send a tennis pro to the out-of-town high schools for a 3 hour clinic once a week.  Right now, we are close to finalizing tennis clinics with North Pitt High School.  Anyone interested in supporting this program can e-mail us at dcta@downeastcta.org.

The DCTA has started the initial steps to place a bid to get the Seniors Adult League State Championships in Greenville for 2009-2010.  If we successfully secure this bid, it will bring over 700 tennis players from around the state to Greenville during the first weekend in June.  This effort will require coorperation between the city’s tennis clubs and other of town clubs like Washington Racquet Club and Greene Ridge Racquet Club.  We are also woking with the Greenville-Pitt County Convention & Visitors Bureau (Andrew Schmidt) to help with the bidding process.  If you are interested in volunteering or a business willing to donate funds or services, then please contact us at dcta@downeastcta.org.
